How do I launch a Dialogue on AwakeVerse?

Launching a Dialogue takes about two minutes. Here is the full process from start to first exchange.

Step 1 — Open the Dialogue section

From the main navigation, go to the Dialogue section. You will see the template gallery and a Create Dialogue option.

Step 2 — Choose your starting point

From a template Templates pre-load a character combination and a debate question. Browse by category — Philosophy, Ethics, Business, Science, History, and more. Select one and you are ready to launch immediately, with the option to customise before starting.

This is the fastest way to start and the best option if you are new to Dialogue.

From scratch Click Create Dialogue to configure everything yourself. You choose the characters, write the debate question or opening premise, and set the turn limit.

tip

Look for the Dialogue Guide button in the gallery header. It walks you through all seven steps of creating and running a Dialogue — worth opening on your first session.

Step 3 — Select your characters

Choose between 2 and 4 characters for your Dialogue. You can mix from:

  • AwakeVerse's platform character roster
  • Creator characters from the Market Hub
  • Characters you have built yourself

The most compelling Dialogues come from characters with contrasting worldviews — different eras, different methods, different values. Similarity produces agreement; contrast produces insight.

Step 4 — Set the debate question

Give the Dialogue a focus with a debate question or opening premise. This is optional — leaving it blank lets the characters find their own direction based on their personalities and the context.

A sharp, specific question produces sharper dialogue. "Is order more valuable than freedom?" will produce a more focused exchange than "What do you think about society?"

Step 5 — Set a turn limit

Set how many turns the Dialogue runs before pausing. This keeps conversations focused. You can always continue past the cap — it is a checkpoint, not a hard stop.

Step 6 — Launch

Review your setup — characters, question, turn limit — and click Start. The Verse Engine initialises each character independently. You will see them enter the conversation one by one.

Step 7 — Run the Dialogue

Once running, choose your mode:

Auto mode — the engine manages all turn-taking. Sit back and watch the conversation develop. Best for exploration.

Manual mode — you control who speaks and when. Use Next Speaker to advance to the next character, or Continue to let the current speaker elaborate further.

You can switch between modes at any point during the Dialogue.

When the Dialogue ends

When the turn limit is reached, the Dialogue pauses. You can:

  • Continue the conversation past the cap
  • Export the Dialogue as a formatted script
  • End the session
